Where It All Began
Our passion for this work started in the academic realm, where we worked as therapists embedded in a prominent engineering college. There, we gained an in-depth look into the engineering student experience and learned to appreciate the unique strengths and challenges of the engineering mind. Using these insights, we merged our expertise in psychology and mental health with the logical, solution-oriented lens of a trained engineer. As innovation and creativity emerged from this cross-disciplinary collaboration, both our team and our engineering clients uncovered new and novel approaches to mental wellness.
Beyond supporting engineering students one-on-one, we learned how to take these logical, solution-oriented approaches to mental health and apply them to leadership and the college as a whole. We’ve helped engineering faculty and staff feel more confident in responding to mental health concerns in the classroom, enabling them to more effectively support the academic goals of their students.
Engineering students won't remain students indefinitely; eventually, they will transition into the professional workforce. In 2024, we launched Applied Wellness Initiatives to broaden our impact. In addition to supporting engineering students, we now also support engineers in industry.
Engineers face high pressures, hold essential skills and knowledge, and maintain responsibility of safety and quality for companies. Without acknowledgement of and support for these pressures, engineers are at risk for burnout, attrition, and reduced productivity. Pulling from our unique insights into the inner workings and struggles of the engineering mind, we provide tailored trainings, coaching, and consultation that address and offer solutions for the daily burdens faced by engineers and engineering students. Moreover, we support the leaders of engineering teams to feel more equipped to respond when mental health barriers are getting in the way of work outcomes.
Launching Applied Wellness Initiatives
Our approach combines evidence-based mental health practices with an appreciation for the structured, solution-oriented thinking engineers naturally employ. We create training, coaching, and consultation programs that not only address common mental health concerns, but tailor the content to the needs, priorities, and perspectives of the engineering mind. Every service we offer is designed with problem-solvers in mind: straightforward, practical, and rooted in real-world application. We cut out the fluff and provide clear, effective strategies.
By aligning our services with the engineering way of thinking, we foster environments where mental well-being supports professional excellence and innovation. Our passion drives us to continually adapt and refine our methodologies, ensuring that mental health support is both effective and relevant to the intricate demands of engineering careers.
